"Detention Without Physical Examination of Honey Containing Foreign Objects"

Reason for Alert:
On 9/20/00, the Southwest Import District detained an entry of honey found to contain metal wire (35 99 mm in length) in each of 6 subs of honey. The metal fragments found exceed the guidance referenced in CPG 555.425(e).

***On 11/1/2007, SEA-DO detained an entry of honey found to contain lead based paint chips in each of 20 subs collected. The particles were evaluated and found to contain 0.577% lead.***

Guidance:
Districts may detain without physical examination honey manufactured by ***the firms listed on the attachment for this import alert.***
