Reason for Alert:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection
Service, Plant Protection and Quarantine, USDA/APHIS/PPQ, has informed us that shipments of fresh, frozen and chilled venison with foot-and-mouth disease are being offered for entry from some foreign countries. USDA has authority to prohibit such importations, however, because of the large volume being offered for import, there is a reasonable possibility that some shipments may be entered. USDA has requested our assistance in this matter.
Service, Plant Protection and Quarantine, USDA/APHIS/PPQ, has informed us that shipments of fresh, frozen and chilled venison with foot-and-mouth disease are being offered for entry from some foreign countries.
