MainThe Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act authorizes FDA to contract with States, U.S. Territories and Indian tribes to assist with compliance and enforcement activities to help limit the availability of tobacco products to youth.FDA issues Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to assist with inspections of retail establishments and other enforcement activities to help enforce the Youth Access and Advertising Regulations that took effect on June 22, 2010. In 2010, FDA awarded contracts to 15 States. FDA’s goal is to contract with every State and U.S. Territory to assist with the enforcement of the regulations restricting the sale and distribution of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco to children and adolescents, so there will be additional opportunities to contract with FDA.FDA looks forward to working with all States, U.S. Territories, and Indian tribes in our shared efforts to reduce youth access to, and use of, tobacco products.
