GAO reports often present detailed recommendations that address important regulatory issues to FDA. Each year, the agency is required to provide an update to GAO on the progress it are making addressing GAO’s recommendations. This project will track the implementation of a more systematic approach to reviewing those annual updates. The GAO team will work with the agency Centers and programs to obtain updates on the status of GAO recommendations. These efforts will help to ensure that GAO is kept fully apprised of FDA’s efforts to address their recommendations and that FDA’s responses are optimal from a policy perspective.Each year, the Agency is required to provide an update to GAO on progress we are making addressing their recommendations. Based on the lessons learned from this effort, we will improve the process for next year by streamlining the review and clearance process.
