Foreign Country Profile Template
Description: This project will create a profile for every country where a foreign inspection has taken place since 2009. Profiles will also be created for countries that may warrant a foreign inspection. Both divisions of the Office of Compliance (OC) have been working closely together, as well as with the Geographic Information Team (GIT) in the Office of Analytics and Outreach (OAO) on a test profile centering on Indonesia seafood imports. The country profiles are intended to improve risk based decision making by correlating multiple streams of country-specific data and information into a controlled number of indicators. These indicators will guide FDA staff in making decisions on whether to perform resource intensive inspections in a particular country. The profiles will also assist staff in deciding on the specific facility, food product(s), processes, and hazards that need to be inspected. While the tool is being developed with the foreign inspection program in mind, it will be useful in a broad array of decision making including imports sampling and capacity building initiatives.
