Center's Leadership Philosophy Survey

Description: Evaluate the extent to which CFSAN managers are demonstrating values and behaviors that are embodied in the Center's Leadership Philosophy Statement. The goal of this project is to evaluate the Center's capacity building and leadership opportunities as stated in the Foods Program priority areas.

Accomplishment: Over the course of this project, the 360-degree survey was administered to 113 CFSAN managers. Following administration of the 360-degree evaluation survey, each manager and his/her supervisor received a written report of the survey findings. Each manager also had a one-on-one meeting with CFSAN’s Organizational Development Manager to review the report and discuss survey results. Results are reported both by rater groups -- self, peers, direct reports, indirect reports, and supervisor – and by average score for each question, and frequency distribution of responses for that question. Each manager was asked to develop a Behavioral Action Plan that identifies leadership behaviors to be improved using the survey results. CFSAN will continue to use this process to evaluate whether managers are demonstrating values and behaviors that are embodied in the Leadership Philosophy Statement as well as improve CFSAN’s capacity building and leadership.
