Strengthen FDA Capacity to address minority health and health disparities across the agency

Description: Examine current process to enhance diversity of applicant pool

Accomplishment: FDA minority health staff have identified and implemented a new process for diversifying the pool of applicants for advisory committee positions. Minority health staff has worked with the FDA Advisory Committee Oversight and Management Staff (ACOMS) as well as Center representatives to develop a format for tracking the diversity of advisory committee participants. These groups will work continue to collaborate on internal and external outreach activities targeted at increasing the diversity of advisory committee participants. Having diverse members serve on these committees ensures that a variety of perspectives and backgrounds are reflected in advisory committee meeting discussions and recommendations.
