About FDA

Description: The Office of Scientific Professional Development manages the Commissioner’s Fellowship Program, a two-year Fellowship Program, which provides an opportunity for health professionals and scientists to receive training and experience at the FDA. The goals of the program are to: 1) attract scientists to the FDA to address a regulatory science issue, 2) train scientists in regulatory science and 3) serve as a potential recruiting tool to attract scientists who do not typically consider FDA as a career option. Each year, the Commissioner’s Fellowship Program brings scientists to the FDA to address critical regulatory science priorities. The completion of the regulatory science projects by the Commissioner’s Fellows enhances the science underpinning the work we do — the science that provides a foundation for our regulatory decisions, in evaluating and approving products that will make a difference in the lives of Americans.
