Grants Review Website

Description: FDA’s Office of Orphan Products Development, in collaboration with ICF International, is developing a website to be used by ad hoc panelists who review the grant applications. The purpose of the Office of Orphan Products Development grant reviewer website is to streamline and enhance the review process for OOPD’s Grants Program. This website is intended to reduce the workload of preparing paper packages with CD-ROMs and mailing to individuals and it should increase usability and efficiency for the panelists to review applications and comply with OOPD requirements.

Accomplishment: FDA’s Office of Orphan Products Development developed a website that was used by ad hoc panelists to receive applications for review for the Orphan Products Grants Program, submit their reviews, conflict of interest forms and score sheets. The purpose of the website was to streamline and enhance the review process for the grant reviewer. This change to an electronic means of sending grant information to reviewers successfully reduced the office’s workload of preparing paper packages with CD-ROMs and also reduced mailing expenses. Most importantly, it increased the usability and efficiency for the panelists to review applications and comply with OOPD requirements.
