Dictionary: CBER managers are required to assess their supervisory and managerial employees’ individual developmental needs so that those individuals who serve in leadership and management positions are trained to lead and manage their staff more effectively. CBER uses the Department of Health and Human Services Leadership Competencies to develop supervisors and managers as well as the Federal government's Executive Core Qualifications to develop Senior Executive Service (SES) Leaders and Managers. The tracking of training is required by 5 CFR 410, “Training.” Further, skilled managers improve CBER’s ability to address the many challenges presented by the range of products and increase the Center’s effectiveness in protecting public health.
