About FDA

The number of technical training events/courses completed by FDA employee(s) during the month are included in this measure. Technical training is defined as curricula that focus on refreshing and improving specialized skills that FDA personnel need in order to maintain a current workforce. The definition of “technical” varies with job function; FDA has a workforce with groups specializing in highly specific disciplines (i.e. toxicology, policy, engineering, etc.).

FDA strives to develop employees’ management and leadership skills in order to have a highly efficient and sophisticated workforce. The number of management/leadership training events/courses completed by FDA employee(s) during the month are included in this measure. Training courses that focus on improving employees’ leadership, management, and team building skills are included within this training classification.

The number of professional development training events/courses completed by FDA employee(s) during the month are included in this measure. Professional development training is defined as events/courses that focus on attaining skills and knowledge for personal development and career advancement (e.g., communication, computer applications, certifications/licenses, etc.).

In order to perform work efficiently, FDA employees must be well versed in certain administrative tasks. The number of administrative training events/courses (i.e. ethics, timekeeping, payroll, typical on-boarding, etc.) completed by FDA employee(s) during the month are included within this training classification.
