About FDA
Number of FOIA assignments issued
Dictionary: FDA uses a decentralized response system when responding to FOIA requests. The Division of Freedom of Information (FOI) serves as FDA’s central point of receipt for all new requests, and assigns the request to the agency component office which has jurisdiction over the records at issue. The office assigned to respond will reply directly to the FOI requester. Since many requests are for multiple documents which may be located in more than one component office, multiple offices may be assigned to respond. This measure counts the number of assignments made to component offices.
