About FDA

Percentage of invoices issued on time within predefined dates in the month

Dictionary: Per the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996 (DCIA), FDA has established a program to recover delinquent debts. FDA's debt collection strategy is consistent with the government-wide and HHS' requirements. If an invoice is not paid within 30 days of the due date, FDA notifies the debtor through a demand letter or dunning notice (dunning letter). Dunning letters are sent 30 days after delinquency, and if a second dunning letter is necessary, it is sent 60 days after delinquency. At 90 days, FDA refers the account to its collection agency. If the collection agency is not successful, the account may be sent to the Department of Treasury for further collection efforts. Note, FDA is required to report its accounts receivable and debt collection information data to HHS.
