About FDA

Cumulative percentage of FDA Information Systems with a valid ATO in the fiscal year

Dictionary: HHS requires every information system to be authorized to operate through the Security Authorization process. An ATO is required to process production data. In order to obtain a current ATO, a Security Authorization must be completed before an information system can go into production. Once the initial Security Authorization is completed, the system will require a full authorization again every third year. FDA utilizes an annual assessment process, where certifiers will conduct a security assessment every year and complete the ATO every third year.

Information is current as of April 16, 2014.
