Import food samples received and analyzed in the month

Dictionary: The “Samples Received” measures represent the number of samples collected by the Investigator and received by the lab. Only physical samples are received by the lab. Non physical samples consist of documentary samples and do not require lab analysis. It is unlikely that “Samples Received” will equal “Samples Analyzed.”

Data for samples analyzed may contain samples that were received at the end of the previous fiscal year and not analyzed until the beginning of the current fiscal year. Similarly, samples collected the end of the current fiscal year may not be analyzed until the beginning of the next fiscal year. Therefore, the samples received counts and samples analyzed counts are not necessarily the same samples for a given month or fiscal year.

Some samples may be analyzed multiple times with each analysis counted separately. The different analyses vary in the time needed to complete. Therefore, samples analyzed may be counted in more than one month. Different analyses include chemical and microbiological analyses.

Some samples are Documentary samples that do not require a lab analysis. These samples will not appear in the samples analyzed measure but do appear in the samples received measure. “DOC” samples consist of records only, collected for the purpose of verifying the receipt and/or shipment of a particular product in interstate commerce.

Analyzed samples are categorized by a 1 through 5 classification system; (1) In compliance, (2) requires no regulatory action, (3) adverse findings, (4) no classification required, (5) Sample not analyzed or reviewed.
