"Detention Without Physical Examination of Brassware From India"

Reason for Alert:
Brassware from India continues to exhibit excessive levels of leachable lead. Products detained in the past include dishes, teapots, pitchers, goblets, jugs, coffee sets, and bowls.

Articles not normally used for storage of liquid or liquid-type foods (i.e., sugar bowls, serving trays, candle holders) should be released.

Guidance:
Districts may detain, without physical sampling and analysis, all brassware from India except for those firms listed in the attachment to this alert.
