Authors:
Lefebvre KA, Noren DP, Schultz IR, Bogard SM, Wilson J, Eberhart BTL
Drug:
Domoic acid
Fish species:
Salmon, coho
Date:
2007
Sample:
blood, plasma
Ave Weight (gm):
464
Ave Water temp (°C):
11
Water:
Freshwater
Dosage:
13 mg/kg sd
Route:
PO
Comments:
All fish had measurable plasma domoic acid levels with in the first 15 min of oral exposure. Cmaxs of 500, 500, 450 and 300 ng/ml, at 24h,48h, 3h, and 12h, respectively, were recorded in four individual fish. Neuroexicitatory symptoms were not observed in any orally exposed fish. DA uptake patterns varied somewhat between the four fish. DA could still be detected 7d after oral gavage in the two fish that were still alive. Permanent intraarterial catheter implanted to quantify uptake and depuration rates.
