Title:  Uptake of erythromycin by first-feeding sockeye-salmon, Oncorhynchus nerka (Walbaum), fed live or freeze-dried enriched adult Artemia or medicated pellets.

Authors:  Cook MA, Rust MB, Massee K, Majack T, Peterson ME

Drug:  Erythromycin

Fish species:  Salmon, sockeye

Date:  2003

Sample:  whole body

Ave Weight (gm):  0

Ave Water temp (°C):  13

Water:  Freshwater

Dosage:  1100 mg/kg 35 d

Route:  PO

Comments:  Pellets. Erythromycin concentration in tissues of the fish fed live Artemia (residue=25 ug/ml) was higher than those fed pellets (0.70 ug/ml). Uptake of bioencapsulated erythromycin from Artemia has a greater uptake than from pellets. Erythromycin still detectable in tissue 21d (0.70 ug/ml) after drug withdrawal, but absent after 35d. t 1/2 difficult to estimate since levels are so low.
