Scope/Abstract
This document specifies requirements for zinc oxide-eugenol cements suitable for use in restorative dentistry for temporary cementation, for bases and as temporary restorations.

This document also specifies requirements for non-eugenol zinc oxide cements containing zinc oxide and oil(s) other than eugenol for temporary cementation.

Rationale for Recognition
This standard is relevant to medical devices and is recognized on its scientific and technical merit and/or because it supports existing regulatory policies.
Transition Period
FDA recognition of ISO 3107 Fourth edition 2011-03 [Rec# 4-198] will be superseded by recognition of ISO 3107 Fifth edition 2022-09 [Rec# 4-299]. FDA will accept declarations of conformity, in support of premarket submissions, to [Rec# 4-198] until July 6, 2025. After this transition period, declarations of conformity to [Rec# 4-198] will not be accepted.
