According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.

Food Contact Substance: 1-Propanaminium, N,N,N-trimethyl-3-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-, chloride, homopolymer (CAS Reg. No. 26427-01-0).

Intended Use: As a retention, drainage, and contaminant control agent employed prior to the sheet forming operation in the manufacture of paper and paperboard.
Limitations/Specifications*: The FCS may be used at levels up to 0.1 percent by weight of the dry pulp. The finished paper/paperboard may be used in contact with all types of food as described in Table 1.
