According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.

Food Contact Substance: N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl)adipamide (9CI) (CAS Reg. No. 57843-53-5).

Intended Use: As a crosslinking agent used in conjunction with the dispersions described in FCNs 1087 and/or 1095 to produce metal coatings or components of metal coatings.
Limitations/Specifications*: The FCS may be used at a maximum level of 6 percent by weight of the finished coating. The finished coating on a given article will have an average thickness of less than 15 microns, and will otherwise comply with FDA regulations for its intended use. The finished coatings may be used in contact with all food types except infant formula under Conditions of Use E through G, as described in Tables 1 and 2.
