According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.

Food Contact Substance: Epoxy resin coatings otherwise complying with 21 CFR 175.300(b)(3)(viii) that also contain 9,10-anthracenedione, 1-hydroxy-4-((4-methylphenyl)amino)- (C.I. Solvent Violet 13) as a pigment (CAS Reg. No. 81-48-1).

Limitations/Specifications*: C.I. Solvent Violet 13 is limited to use at a maximum level of 1 percent by weight of the cured epoxy coating at temperatures not to exceed 40°C. The finished coating is intended for repeated use in contact with beer only.
