Comments:  Eugenol showed similar anesthetic property to that of a mixture of eugenol and menthol, but menthol used alone was ineffective. The minimum dose to induce anesthesia within 30 min was 200 uL/L. Induction time=202.3 min. Recovery time=1.3 min. Oxygen consumption=5.4 mg O2 kg/h. Results indicate that eugenol and menthol residues accumulate in the tissues, however a 24 hour withdrawl period clears the residues from the tissue.
