Title:  Piperonyl butoxide enhances the bioconcentration and photoinduced toxicity of fluoranthene and benzo[a]pyrene to larvae of the grass shrimp (Palaemonetes pugio)

Authors:  Weinstein JE, Garner TR

Drug:  Piperonyl butoxide

Fish species:  Shrimp, daggerblade grass

Date:  2008

Sample:  whole body

Ave Weight (gm):  0

Ave Water temp (°C):  22

Water:  Saltwater

Dosage:  0.760 mg/L 96h

Route:  BATH

Comments:  One test was conducted in the absence of light, while the other was subject to continuous light. The researchers calculated that Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) toxicity is not enhanced by simulated sunlight. Calculated LC50 values for dark exposures was 814.4ug/L, and when exposed to light was 888.6ug/L (not statistically different P=0.42). Water salinity was 20 ppt.
