Drug:  Astaxanthin

Fish species:  Salmon, chinook

Date:  2010

Sample:  egg

Ave Water temp (°C):  0

Water:  Saltwater

Dosage:  50 mg/kg 3yrs

Route:  PO

Comments:  Astaxanthin was the primary carotenoid present. Astaxanthin comprised >85% of total caratenoid found in eggs. Mass of astaxanthin per egg and retinoid mass per egg-was higher in fish fed the high carotenoid diet. Astaxanthin mass per egg increased consistently over time in both high and low carotenoid diets. Retinoid mass per egg increaed significantly from September to November in both diets.
