Title:  Pharmacokinetics of enrofloxacin in koi carp (Cyprinus carpio) after various routes of administration.

Authors:  Udomkusonsri P, Arthitvong S, Klangkaew N, Kusucharit N

Drug:  Enrofloxacin

Fish species:  Carp, common (koi)

Date:  2007

t1/2-hr:  42

Sample:  blood, plasma

Ave Weight (gm):  78

Ave Water temp (°C):  28

Water:  Freshwater

Dosage:  5 mg/L 5 hrs

Route:  BATH

Comments:  Fish were sedated with clove oil (10mg/L). Cmax =1.0, Tmax = 0.25, AUC = 29, MRT = 75. Mean enrofloxacin concentration in plasma at time points (mg/L): 0h*=0.00, 0.25h=0.9, 0.5h=0.8, 1h=0.8, 2h=0.6, 8h=0.2, 24h=0.2, 48h=0.2, 72h=0.2, 96=0.2. *time 0h was taken before bath treatment. The authors claim that plasma drug concentrations were above MIC for most fish bacterial pathogens, making this an effective dose.
