Title:  Pharmacodynamics of methyl mercury in the rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri): Tissue uptake, distribution and excretion.

Authors:  Giblin FJ, Massaro EJ

Drug:  Mercury-(Methyl Mercury)

Fish species:  Trout, rainbow

Date:  1973

Sample:  muscle

Ave Weight (gm):  270

Ave Water temp (°C):  7

Water:  Freshwater

Dosage:  0.5 mg/kg sd

Route:  PO

Comments:  Biological half-retention time is > 200 d; if the value of 0.05% of the dose is taken as the average daily excretion of methyl mercury, a not unreasonable value of 1000 d is calculated for its biological half-retention time, the excretion must occur in at least 2 stages. Peak at 34 d = 1.00 ng/gm, 56 d= 0.8, 92 d= 0.93, 100d = 0.9.
