Alert: Threat
What do you do and who do you notify if you have a THREAT or issue at your facility, including suspicious behavior?
- Contact the Food and Drug Administration or USDA/Food Safety and Inspection Service
If a food establishment operator suspects that any of his/her products have been subject to tampering, ‘counterfeiting,’ or other malicious, criminal or terrorist action, it is recommended that after reporting to local law enforcement officials, it be reported in the following manner to either FDA or FSIS as appropriate:
- For FDA regulated products (all other products) call the FDA 24-hour emergency number at 1-866-300-4374 or the local FDA District Office. FDA District phone numbers are listed here.
- For slaughterers or processors of FSIS regulated products (meat, poultry, and egg products) call the 24-hour emergency toll free number at 1-866-395-9701 or the FSIS Technical Service Center at 1-800-233-3935.
