Interpreting Physician License

Citation:

900.12(a)(1)(i)(A): The interpreting physician shall be licensed to practice medicine in a State.

Discussion:

An interpreting physician must have a valid license from a State to practice medicine. A license from a State satisfies the MQSA requirement in all States and should be accepted as evidence of meeting this initial qualification.

Documentation: An original or copy of the license or renewal form indicating the expiration date of the license. Attestation is not acceptable for licenses.
