FDA Facebook Comment Policy

This Facebook Page was created as an informational resource for updates from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Facebook encourages and allows for the submission of written comments. In accordance with the Federal Government's other social media comment policies, the FDA has instituted the following comment policy for this Facebook page:

General Comment Guidelines:

To maintain respectful interaction on this page, we encourage that all comments:

• Stay focused. All viewpoints are welcome, but comments should remain relevant to the topic.
• Be respectful. Respect others opinions and share your opinions in a respectful way.
• Tell the truth. Spreading misleading or false information is prohibited.
• No spam. Repeated posting of identical or very similar content in a counter-productive manner is prohibited - this includes posts aggressively promoting services or products.

Comment Expectations:

Although we hope that you choose to contribute your comments, to protect your privacy, please do not disclose personally identifiable information about yourself or others. We welcome your comments and request that you respect this informational resource and refrain from posting comments that contain partisan political statements. Also, any comments, posts or links that seek to defame, slander or libel any current or former employees of the FDA will be removed.

Your comments and questions may help inform our decisions of what to post in the future. If possible, we will provide answers to questions. We are also unable to answer questions about your specific health care situation or provide medical advice.

The FDA does not endorse the comments or opinions provided by visitors to this site. Following/being followed also does not imply endorsement.

We retain the discretion to determine which comments violate our comment policy. We also reserve the right to remove and/or not allow comments to get posted. The views expressed within posted comments do not necessarily reflect those of the U.S Food and Drug Administration, or the federal government.

We recognize that the Web is a 24/7 medium, and your comments are welcome at any time. However, given the need to manage federal resources (i.e., your tax dollars), moderating and posting comments should only be expected to occur during regular business hours.

Comment Removal:

Comments could be deleted if they:

• Contain commercial endorsements (i.e., links to products for sale or of a promotional nature).
• Contain discriminatory, racist, offensive, obscene, inflammatory, unlawful, or otherwise objectionable statements, language or content, including name calling and/or personal attacks.
• Contain information that can be construed as medical advice from the public.
• Violate the spirit of this comment policy.

Records will be kept of all comments that are deleted for the above reasons. We reserve the right to block or delete repeat offenders of this policy.
