New Technologies/Methodologies to Assess Chemical Food Safety

Description: CFSAN scientists are developing/using established medium throughput biomarker assays and in vivo model systems to assess the safety of food and dietary supplement ingredient/contaminants and to assess the ability of the in vitro systems to predict toxicity (predictive modeling) in vivo. It is our hope that the identification and verification, of medium throughput screening methods via in vivo testing will improve toxicity characterization, increase efficiency, reduce cost as well as refine, reduce or replace animal use.
