Internal Electronic Newsletter

Public Health Outcome: Establish an internal, electronic newsletter for FDA employees to improve consistency and clarity in internal FDA communications.

Accomplishment: Despite having grown in size and responsibilities, FDA had not published an internal newsletter for employees since the mid-1990s. To foster a clearer understanding of FDA’s mission and promote a strong esprit de corps among its employees, FDA’s Office of Communications developed a new internal newsletter, which was launched on FDA’s intranet site in August 2013. Building on an internal survey and a review of best practices and communications platforms, the office worked with FDA’s web staff and information technology (IT) office to design and create an electronic platform for the newsletter. With a reader-friendly design, the newsletter focuses on FDA’s employees and their work to promote and protect the public health.
