Authors:  Bergsjo T, Sognen E

Drug:  Trimethoprim

Fish species:  Trout, rainbow

Date:  1980

Sample:  blood, plasma

Ave Weight (gm):  120

Ave Water temp (°C):  9

Water:  Saltwater

Dosage:  75 mg/l 5-48 hr sd

Route:  BATH

Comments:  Fish adapted to salt water for 7 d before study. Plasma concentration reached 1 ug/ml after10h. Higher absorption attributed to the addition of ingested medicated water to that absorbed in the gills. Saltwater adapted fish had highest levels of drug, followed by those not adapted, and least in freshwater dosed fish.
