Title:  Bioconcentration and elimination of avermectin B1 in sturgeon.

Authors:  Shen J, Zhang Q, Ding S, Zhang S, Coats JR

Drug:  Avermectin B1

Fish species:  Sturgeon

Date:  2005

t1/2-hr:  104

Sample:  muscle

Ave Weight (gm):  36

Ave Water temp (°C):  20

Water:  Freshwater

Dosage:  1 ng/ml 22d

Route:  BATH

Comments:  Residue dose day22= 38.29+/- 0.1.5ng/g. Withdrawall d22= 2.1 +/-0.19 ng/g, d44=ND. The estimated value of bioconcentration factor was 41 L/kg. BCF for both the the high and low concentrations was not significantly different indicating that Avermectin B1 does not strongly bioconcentrate in aquatic organisms and would not be expected to biomagnify in the food chain. Uptake constant=6.5, elim constant 0.16. Average recoveries of fortified water samples were 80.5% +/- 5.1% for 1 ng/mL, 83.7% +/- 3.8% for 4 ng/mL, and 89.1 +/- 4.0% for 7 ng/mL.
