Title:  Effect of temperature on the pharmacokinetics of benzocaine in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) after bath exposures.

Authors:  Stehly GR, Meinertz JR, Gingerich WH (1998)

Drug:  Benzocaine

Fish species:  Trout, rainbow

Date:  1998

t1/2-hr:  1

Sample:  blood, plasma

Ave Weight (gm):  877

Ave Water temp (°C):  18

Water:  Freshwater

Dosage:  1 mg/l 4 h

Route:  BATH

Comments:  Uptake clearance and metabolic clearance increased with increased acclimation temperatures. The elimination half-life of benzocaine in plasma did not differ significantly with temperature. Vd was normalized, calculated from total volume (bath+fish). Concentration at 240 min bath = 1224 ng/ml, 2.5 min post exposure = 76 ng/ml.
