Risk Summary

There is no information regarding the presence of EPANOVA in human milk, the effects on the breastfed infant, or the effects on milk production. Limited published studies report that omega-3 fatty acid, derived from fish oil, are present in human milk at levels higher than that in plasma. The developmental and health benefits of breastfeeding should be considered along with the mother’s clinical need for EPANOVA and any potential adverse effects on the breastfed child from EPANOVA or from the underlying maternal condition.
