Safety First Initiative
CDER created the Safety First initiative, which states that drug safety is the Center's first priority. Critical to this mandate is:
- Creating and maintaining a collaborative, multidisciplinary, team-based approach to the review of drugs.
- Applying world-class project management skills to make sure there is the same attention to post-market safety issues as there is to drug development.
- Aligning policies and processes to ensure that the most appropriate and best-qualified experts lead or have an equal voice in regulatory decisions.
