Event Description
It was reported that the procedure was to treat a heavily tortuous, heavily calcified right anterior tibial artery that is 95% stenosed.A 3.0x120mm armada 14 balloon dilatation catheter (bdc) was advanced and resistance was noted with anatomy.Once pressurized to 8 atmospheres the balloon ruptured.Another unspecified balloon was used to successfully completely the procedure.There was no adverse patient effects and no clinically significant delay.No additional information was provided.

Visual and functional inspections were performed on the returned device.The reported balloon rupture was confirmed.The reported physical resistance was unable to be replicated in a testing environment as it was based on operational circumstances.A review of the lot history record identified no manufacturing nonconformities issued to the reported lot that would have contributed to this event.Additionally, a review of the complaint history identified no other similar incidents reported from this lot.The investigation determined the reported difficulties appear to be related to circumstances of the procedure.There is no indication of a product quality issue with respect to the design, manufacture, or labeling of the device.Na.
