Event Description
|
Information was received from a manufacturer representative regarding a patient who was implanted with an implantable neurostimulator (ins) for spinal pain.It was reported that last thursday, the patient's wife noticed swelling at the pocket site after the patient noticed a lot of pain at the site.The patient ended up going to the er to address the issue.The patient said the area was very red.He noted that he didn't have therapy on at the time.The patient later mentioned that he can't feel anything in group a, and in the last 3 days he had to switch to group b to feel stim.Sensation.The rep said she did impedance check and there was nothing of note to mention.Additional information was reported that the cause of the swelling and redness at the patient's implant site was not determined.The cause of the patient not feeling stimulation was not determined either.The patient was able to appreciate paresthesia during the appointment after the rep increased the intensity.The patient is also going to keep a diary if any issues arise and will report back to the rep.It's unknown if the issue have been resolved at this time the rep will be following up with the patie nt.Rep said patient reports that symptoms of intense pain, swollen pocket, redness have greatly reduced and therapy is working very well.There is still a bit of redness on lateral side that look like scratches, incision and pocket look fine, and there is a still a bit of warmth around pocket.Rep notes that diary shows stimulation with adaptive stim has been on 99% since last session and 79% in the 30 days.

Event Description

The patient was referred to a dermatologist for patch testing as the patient had a reaction.The patient's managing physician has concerns that the patient is having a reaction to the device.The cause of the redness and pain has not yet been determined despite the managing physician also taking images.

The rep reported that the patient developed an allergy per the infectious disease doctor.The system was explanted on (b)(6) 2021.The device was in pathology, cultured and came back with staph.
