It was reported by an attorney that the patient underwent hernia repair surgery on (b)(6) 2012 and mesh was implanted.It was reported that the patient underwent removal surgery on (b)(6) 2015 during which the surgeon noted chronically infected and exposed mesh into the incision with a small rim of skin around it.Flaps are raised on either side of skin and subcutaneous tissue.The mesh was largely detached from the fascia but was densely adherent to the bowel underneath and very extensive and time consuming dissection was required to mobilize the mesh and debride and remove it.It was reported that the patient experienced severe pain, nausea, diarrhea, chills, inflammation, loss of appetite, and extreme weight loss.No additional information was provided.
