It is alleged that the patient received a celect inferior vena cava (ivc) filter on (b)(6)
2012, and the patient was injured without further explanation.Hospital and medical records have been requested, but not yet provided.

Event Description
|
Patient allegedly received an implant on (b)(6) 2012 via the right internal jugular vein due to risk of deep vein thrombosis (dvt) and pulmonary embolism (pe).Patient is alleging vena cava perforation. It is further alleged "the plaintiff complained of abdominal pain before she passed away," as well as paranoid schizophrenia.Patient reportedly expired (b)(6) 2021.Specific details surrounding the patient's expiration are currently unknown, and there is currently no reported allegation of wrongful death.Death certificate has been requested.Report from ct (computed tomography): "ivc filter is present, tip lying at the approximate level of the right renal vein, left renal vein not well visualized. There are 4 larger filter struts present, extending slightly external to the caval lumen as visualized, most medial/posterior strut contacting the anterior superior aspect of l4 vertebral body.Posterolateral strut lies within pericaval fat.Anterior struts lie in close proximity to the posterior wall of the stomach and proximal duodenum.Smaller struts extend slightly beyond the visible confines of the ivc margin both medially and laterally but do not appear to impinge on adjacent structures.Smaller medial strut contacting but does not extend into the aortic wall.No significant angulation is seen relative to the caval lumen.".
