Event Description
|
Information was received from a healthcare provider (hcp) regarding a patient who was receiving hydromorphone (8 mg/ml at 1.6412 mg/day) via an implantable pump for non-malignant pain.It was reported that the patient had been having issues with not being able to sleep and urinating.The hcp was thinking there might be a malfunction with the pump (possible leak) and they would like to have the pump checked and shut off.

|
Additional information was received from the healthcare provider indicated that the patient was having issues with nausea, increased pain and symptoms consistent with withdrawal; she was given oral medication that relieved some of the symptoms.It was reported that over the last year the patient has had issues with over sedation and being under treated by the infusion system.A dye study was performed with no issues.The pump was replaced due to the healthcare provider believing that the pump was malfunctioning giving the patient intermittent doses of high and low medication.

Information was received from a company representative (rep) regarding a patient who was receiving hydromorphone (8 mg/ml at 1.4738 mg/day) via an implantable pump for non-malignant pain.It was reported the company representative (rep) stated in (b)(6) 2022 they assisted with a pump replacement due to the fact the patient was having intermittent episodes of increased and decreased pain.Rep stated a catheter access port (cap) dye study was done and that was negative.
