Event Description
It was reported that during use of the device for cardiopulmonary bypass (cpb), the readings for the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pco2) values kept dropping.As a result, an alternate device was employed.The surgical procedure was completed successfully.There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.

Per clinical review: on (b)(6) 2022, the team experienced a problem with the blood parameter monitor (bpm) while on cardiopulmonary bypass whereby the partial pressure carbon dioxide (pco2) values kept dropping despite repeated recalibrations.The unit was changed out, with no delay, no blood loss, and the procedure was completed successfully.

During laboratory analysis, the product surveillance technician (pst) observed the pco2 value to remain steady throughout the evaluation.No unexpected changes were observed.The unit operated to the manufacturer's specifications.
