Event Description
Medtronic received information regarding a navigation system being used outside of a procedure. It was reported that the localizer was power cycling. The system would boot up then start beeping and the localizer disconnected message would display. The system was unable to be used for a case. There was no patient involved.Troubleshooting was done with the representative on site. The representative first went into the network device interface (ndi) toolbox and neither the polaris spectra system control unit (scu) nor the positioning sensor unit (psu) would connect. The scu had a blinking amber light on the left-hand side of the box.The representative then disconnected the lemo cable for the psu and that light emitting diode (led) went green. In the ndi toolbox, the scu showed that it was fine. The probable issue was noted to be the psu or the internal/external cable.
