|
Information was received from a manufacturer representative regarding a patient who was implanted with an implantable neurostimulator (ins) for unknown indications for use.It was reported that rep was with a patient who reports moving a water heated on (b)(6) and received 2 shocking or jolting sensations at the battery site.At the same time patient was unable to charge his controller (see related) and the ins is currently discharged.Unable to troubleshoot today due to ins low battery.Caller became aware of an issue but did not know details until today.

Event Description
|
Additional information received from the manufacturer representative reported that the patient was asked to turn off the device for 24 hours.It was stated that the patient continued to feel the shocking sensation with the device off.A mri was done and the doctor stated that the patient had a herniated disc causing the shocking sensation.A surgery was scheduled to fix the situation.Additional information received from the manufacturer representative reported the patient had picked up a hot water heater and had a shocking sensation and pain.The battery was not charged when it was interrogated so it was charged for 20 minutes.There was no shocking during the charging.The patient had been worried he had damaged the system when picking up the water heater.Interrogation of the device showed impedances and connectivity were both green and within expected range.The doctor had the patient turn the system off completely and stand up.The patient experienced the shocking sensation he had originally.The doctor told the patient the system was not causing the shocking sensation and was working properly.
