The information provided by bd represents all of the known information at this time.Despite good faith efforts to obtain additional information, the complainant / reporter was unable or unwilling to provide any further patient, product, or procedural details to bd.The date of event was not provided by the complainant/reporter, the date reflected in this report is the date bd became aware of the event.The device has not been returned to the manufacturer for evaluation.A lot history review (lhr) of regr1637 showed one other similar product complaint(s) from this lot number.The complaints for this lot number have been reported from the same facility in sweden.
 
Event Description
Customer reported a picc was inserted in the left arm and after a few days the patient had a smeary tegaderm and redness at the insertion site.Wound culture is taken and comes back negative.Allergic reaction is suspected, and responsible doctor gets in contact over the phone with dermatologist who also suspects some kind of reaction to the picc.Picc is removed and culture on the tip is negative.After the picc is removed, the patient had a powerglide pro placed and doesn't react to this product.The patient has also had a cicc (made of polyurethane) before picc insertion without reaction.Therefore, the doctors suspect reaction to the picc.
