Event Description
|
A medtronic representative reported that a site was performing an imaging system trial and bent their 2.25 pedicle probe in the patient's anatomy.This was during surgery, however, discovered immediately and had effect on the procedure.The surgeon opted to continue the procedure using navlock instruments.The surgeon completed the procedure with the use of the navigation system.There was no delay of therapy.There was no impact on patient outcome.

Medtronic investigation of returned suspect pedicle probe finds that as reported, the tip of the probe is visibly bent.However, with markers attached and fully seated, the probe returned good geometry and divot error readings.The reported event was confirmed to be caused by physical damage.The hardware investigation found that the reported event was related to a hardware issue.This issue was documented in a medtronic navigation hardware anomaly tracking database.
