Event Description
Information was received from a patient implanted with an implantable neurostimulator (ins) for other chronic/intractable pain (trunk/limbs).It was reported that the patient had been pretty sick for a couple years as of (b)(6) 2016.The patient had sepsis, knee replacements, and rods put in her femur, so the ins had been turned off for a fair amount of time. The patient had a reconstruction of her foot and all the metal was taken out.It was noted that one physician working on this health issue questioned whether the ins might have contributed to the patient's recurring sepsis. The patient turned stimulation on a week or so prior to (b)(6) 2016 and stimulation was still working. The patient had not seen her healthcare professional in six or seven years and wanted to know if the device needed to be checked. The patient already contacted one physician who told her to contact the manufacturer. The patient was to contact her primary physician and one other physician to have a manufacturer representative paged.
