Manufacturer Narrative
The faulty ups was returned to merge healthcare on 21sep2016 for evaluation. The results showed that no problem could be found. The unit was setup to run for many days and no further issues occurred.Device labeling, hemo user manual, addresses the potential for such an occurrence with statements such as, "if low voltage is detected, the pdm goes to battery power and an audible alarm sounds.".

Event Description
Merge hemodynamics monitors, measures, and records physiological data from a human patient undergoing a cardiac catheterization procedure. The system comprises the patient data module and the merge hemodynamics hemo monitor pc.The two units are connected via a serial interface. All vital parameters and evaluations are registered and calculated in the patient data module. This data is then transmitted to the merge hemodynamics hemo monitor pc via the serial interface. All data can be shown and monitored on the merge hemodynamics hemo monitor pc.On (b)(6) 2016, a customer reported to merge healthcare that the ups (uninterrupted power supply) device was faulty and caused the hemo application to go down twice both times during procedures causing the hemo monitor to be rebooted. This resulted in the loss of patient data. With merge hemodynamics not capturing physiological data, there is a potential for incorrect treatment that could cause harm to a patient. However, the user confirmed that, once the hemo monitor was rebooted, the procedures were completed successfully.Subsequently, the user plugged the hemo system into the site's emergency power supply after the second occurrence. This prevented the problem from occurring again while waiting for replacement hardware.(b)(4).
