Dexcom was made aware on (b)(6) 2017, that on (b)(6) 2017, of a detached sensor wire that was retained in the patient's skin.The sensor was inserted at the abdomen on (b)(6) 2017.Patient's mother reported that there was deployment difficulty.The sensor pod was removed and the sensor wire could not be seen.Nothing was observable on the skin.Patient was complaining of pain in the insertion area.Husband could feel a bump underneath the skin three days after sensor removal and they took patient to hospital.The hospital performed an ultrasound 3 days later and confirmed sensor wire was in abdomen.Patient is scheduled to see surgeon on (b)(6) 2017 for sensor wire removal.At the time of contact, patient is alright.No additional event or patient information is available.No product or data was provided for investigation.The reported issue could not be confirmed.The root cause could not be determined.
